Innophos Holdings, a producer of specialty phosphates in North America, has acquired Triarco Industries for $46m, as part of its strategy to expand its footprint into product categories related to its existing phosphate offering.
Triarco, a privately held firm based in New Jersey, US, is a manufacturer of custom ingredients for the food, beverage, dietary supplement and nutraceutical industries. It specializes in botanical and enzyme based ingredients for use in sports nutrition, dietary supplements and fortified beverages.
The latest acquisition is complementary to the mineral ingredients businesses, Kelatron and AMT, which were acquired by Innophos in 2011 and 2012.
All the three businesses, Kelatron, AMT and Triarco, enable Innophos to strengthen its position in the nutritional ingredients end markets.
Innophos chairman and CEO Randy Gress said that Triarco's products are often formulated alongside existing Innophos specialty mineral ingredients to provide nutritional benefit to consumers.
"We look forward to leveraging our combined customer relationships and product offering to drive growth, while strengthening the quality and efficiency of our supply chain," Gress added.
Innophos is a producer of nutritional specialty ingredients, with applications in food, beverage, dietary supplements, pharmaceutical, oral care and industrial markets.
