Connect Packaging has been trading for over 50 years, with a team of 80 staff and currently has a turnover in excess of £7m, and is also one of the biggest independent corrugated sheet plants.
A spokesperson for CBS told Packaging News the deal was worth around £5m, and there were no plans to change staffing levels.
CBS was formed in 1996 from a small unit in Birmingham and now operates at a 160,000 square foot building on a five-acre site in West Bromwich.
In 2005 the firm acquired a London based packaging company with a further acquisition being made in 2008 with the purchase of Corrugated Paper Supplies in Manchester from Mondi.
With the purchase of Connect Packaging, the group turnover should increase to in excess of £25m.
The management team and staff at Connect will be retained to integrate the business within the group, and investment in new plant technology is expected.
