HTC Droid DNA Offers a Rather Astounding High-Res Screen

At a press event in New York today,HTC showed off an impressive new entry into the Android smart-phone field:the HTC Droid DNA($200 with a 2-year Verizon Wireless contract). From what we saw, this new phone will offer a rather astounding high-res screen:a 5-inch,1080p HD display at a very high pixel density—440ppi.HTC claims the screen is 50 percent brighter than that of the Samsung Galaxy S III.

In addition to the impressive display, the Droid DNA features a powerful Snapdragon quad-core processor, making it one of only a few quad-core phones to hit the market thus far(along with the Samsung Galaxy Note II and LG Optimus G).

Also impressive is the DNA's 8-megapixel camera with a 28mm wide-angle lens, that lets you shoot stills and video simultaneously. It also has a count-down timer and facial recognition. The DNA features a 2.1-megapixel front-facing camera as well for video chat.

The DNA comes with 2GB of RAM and runs on Android's Jellybean mobile OS.Beats Audio and two amplifiers are integrated,to enhance sound quality. It will(of course)use Verizon's 4G LTE network. The Droid DNA goes on sale November 21;you can pre-order the phone today.

We have a review sample of the phone in our hands;look for a first-look review from us on this phone very soon.
