On April 15, Shanxi Province-based Chinese coke producer Shanxi Coking Co., Ltd announced that in 2012 its operating revenue totaled RMB 5.722 billion ($313 million), down 26.2 percent, while its net profit amounted to RMB 29.68 million ($4.11 million), down 44.29 percent, both on year-on-year basis.
Shanxi Coking Co. noted that the decrease in its revenue was mainly caused by reduced production, declining coke prices, sluggish market conditions and slower economic growth. In 2012, the company's revenues from sales of coke totaled RMB 3.789 billion ($603 million), down RMB 1.725 billion ($211.3 million) compared to 2011, while its revenues from sales of coal-related chemical products amounted to RMB 1.866 billion ($300 million), decreasing RMB 263 million ($42.28 million) year on year.
