Japanese automaker Honda Motor is set to expand alternative-fuel vehicle technologies in its vehicle lineup in the US in a move to increase its sales in the country.
As part of this strategy, the company plans to revamp its vehicle lineup of advanced technology environmental vehicles including the Honda Insight over the next three to four years.
Insight will be available at Honda dealerships across the nation through the end of 2014 as the company intends to stop the production in summer 2014.
The company will focus on the expanded application of the two-motor hybrid system in its hybrid product lineup in the US.
The new two-motor system was initially introduced on the 2014 Accord Plug-In Hybrid five passenger sedan in the US.
American Honda auto operations senior vice president Michael Accavitti said: "Our hybrid vehicle strategy will focus on new models aimed at delivering the class-leading fuel economy and performance our customers' desire in segments that represent significant growth opportunities."
