Swedish automobile manufacturer Volvo has added a new engine variant and upgraded an engine used in the V40 model sedan that is available in Europe.
Launched at the 2013 Geneva Motor show, the manual versions of the V40 D2 and V40 D2 R-Design are claimed to reduce CO2 emissions from 94g/km to 88g/km and lessen fuel consumption by 4.6mpg to 83.1mpg.
The new engine added by the company to its line up of direct-injected petrol engines is the four-cylinder 1.6L engine named as T2, which is paired to a manual gearbox and generates an output of 120hp and 240Nm of torque.
CO2 emitted by the T2 is claimed by the manufacturer to be 124g/km along with the fuel consumption of 53.3mpg.
The company has also added the Sensus Connected Touch technology to its cars that allows to the user to access connectivity and Internet through a 3G/4G dongle or mobile phone.
Volvo Car Group Marketing, Sales and Customer Service senior vice president Doug Speck said that the track can be found by saying its name.
"The voice-activated system works on all music sources connected to the Sensus Connected Touch," Speck added.
With the technology the user can access full Internet browsing, Internet streaming of music, Internet radio, on-line Map and Search, Embedded Connected 3D navigation with online traffic info and dangerous zone warnings, free parking locator and weather information.
