Global packaging manufacturer ASG (AGI-Shorewood Group) has unveiled a new automated magnetic-coating inline process for a new line of chewing gum marketed by a gum manufacturer.
The folding packs feature a new type of magnetic closure that is considered to be a 'game changer' in the confectionery sector.
ASG worked with the magnetic extrusion technology developer MagnetNotes for the new process.
The company stated that the magnetic closure allows consumers to easily open and close the new gum packets without the typical wear and tear of most cartons.
ASG director of innovation Greg Chup said the functionality of closures on confectionery packaging is very challenging.
"Our new process features a coating we apply during printing," Chup added.
ASG, which comprises two separate entities - AGI-Shorewood US and AGI-Shorewood International, caters to the industries including health and beauty, pharmaceutical, home entertainment, consumer electronics, confectionery and specialty foods, spirits, and sporting goods.
