Earlysense Patient Monitoring System in US Is Distributed by Welch Allyn

US based global healthcare company Welch Allyn has entered into a collaboration agreement to distribute EarlySense's continuous, contact-free patient monitoring solution to hospitals across the US.

The solution, EarlySense System, is designed for monitoring non-ICU lower risk patients on medical surgical floors who are usually monitored by nursing staff approximately once every four hours.

Using a sensor placed underneath a bed mattress, the system measures heart and respiration rate, patient movement while in bed, patient bed entries and exits, as well as provides alerts to the clinical staff via the bedside monitor, the central nursing station, hallway displays, and directly to pagers or in-house telephones, if any event of a change in a patient's status.

Welch Allyn president and CEO Steve Meyer said early alerts assist clinicians in early detection of patient deterioration to help medical teams save lives and reduce costs.

"The opportunity to partner with EarlySense enables Welch Allyn to continue providing its customers with proven solutions that answer the growing clinical, economic and regulatory needs to reduce adverse clinical events and improve patient safety," Meyer added.

EarlySense CEO Avner Halperin said, "Together, Welch Allyn and EarlySense are targeting more than one million acute care beds that clinicians widely agree can be made much safer with smart, continuous monitoring."
