GM Has Recalled 68,000 Vehicles Owing to Many Cars' Problems

US-based automobile manufacturer General Motors has recalled 68,000 vehicles, due to a problem in the park lock cable and malformed steering column lock.

The recall is being carried out for 54,686 vehicles in the US, 6,310 in Canada, 710 in Mexico and 7,038 trucks from overseas markets including the Middle East that were produced between November and December 2012.

The problem is reported to be with the assembly of the park lock cable, steering column lock park and the transmission that may shift out of park position, rolling the vehicle after the key is turned to off, leading to crash.

No crashes or injuries have been reported, claims the company.

Models including the 2013 Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV and EXT, Chevrolet Avalanche, Express, Silverado HD and LD, Suburban and Tahoe, and GMC Savana, Sierra HD and LD, Yukon and Yukon XL are expected to be recalled by the company.
