Fuji Heavy Industries (FHI), the manufacturer of Subaru automobiles, has developed its next generation advanced driving assist system, EyeSight, to assist in avoiding collisions, reduce collision damage and driver's workload.
The company has revamped the stereo camera system of the EyeSight to improve recognition accuracy and added steering assist control features.
The next generation EyeSight adopts color recognition technology combined with 40% increase of viewing angle and visibility distance, expanding visible range, improving object recognition accuracy, and allowing it to recognize brake lights and red signals.
EyeSight can also detect brake lights of the vehicle ahead and link it to Adaptive Cruise Control for faster deceleration.
The Pre-Collision Braking Control feature of the system will decrese the speed of the vehicle or even stop it with automatic braking. Other features of the system include an Active Lane Keep System with two functions, Lane Keeping Assist and Lane Departure Prevention Assist.
FHI will introduce its vehicles equipped with the next generation EyeSight systems in Japan in 2014.
