US-based container manufacturer Norton Packaging has broken ground for its new facility in Jasper County in Georgia, according to the Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD).
The company has invested invest $12m in its first Southeast facility, which will have an area of 76,000ft2. The facility will manufacture plastic injection molded rigid shipping containers.
Norton Packaging co-president Scott Norton said the location in Georgia's heartland is an outgrowth of a business strategy to extend existing customer relationships besides expanding the company's customer base in fast-growing markets.
"We were drawn here by the state's advantageous business climate, and we look forward to becoming an integral part of the community," Norton said.
Norton Packaging supplies to industries in paint, janitorial, petrochemical, adhesive, agricultural chemicals and food packaging segments.
