Nissan has introduced a taxi version of its NV200 small van for London with a redesigned front end tailored to mimic the looks of that city's iconic cabs, the automaker announced.
The van's front-end styling features round headlamps, a remodeled grille, new front bumpers and LED lighting for the taxi sign, Nissan said in a statement. The van will launch in December 2014 with power from a 1.6-liter gasoline engine. A zero-emissions electric version will be introduced in 2015, the automaker said.
The styling updates were made to ensure that customers could, "easily recognize it as a taxi," said Darryl Scriven, design excellence manager at Nissan Design Europe.
The London cab is part of Nissan's global taxi program. It also has tailored taxi versions of the van for New York, Barcelona and Tokyo, Nissan said.
