Nestlé Has Introduced New Digital Labelling Scheme

Swiss food firm Nestlé has introduced new digital labelling scheme that gives instant access to information about the nutritional profile and environmental and social impacts of the company's products.

The move is a part of the company's commitment to communicate the importance of responsible nutrition, moderation and variety in food habits.

The new global initiative has been implemented on multi-pack of two-finger Kit Kat chocolate bars in the UK and Ireland.

Customers will be able to access more information on what the product is made of, how it fits into a balanced diet and lifestyle, and how it was produced, just by scanning the Quick Response (QR) code on packaging with a smartphone.

These codes will take consumers to digital sites where the detailed information about the product would be more than what is normally available on a pack.

Nestlé plans to unveil the QR codes across its product range in both emerging and developed markets.
