Japanese carmaker Toyota has launched the remodeled Crown Series including Crown Royal and Crown Athlete sedans to boost sales in domestic market which have dropped about 75% over the past two decades.
The 14th generation Crown series is offered with two engine options including a gasoline engine as well as a new hybrid system.
Both the Crown variant vehicles are powered by a 2.5L 4GR-FSE V6 engine, mated to six-speed automatic transmission, while each sedans will have an option of a rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive.
The Crown series exclusive rear-wheel-drive hybrid model is powered by a combination of 2AR-FSE engine and an electric motor that collectively generate an output of 162kW (220 PS).
Features of the new series include adaptive high beam system, panoramic view monitor, pre-collision system, intelligent clearance sonar and drive-start control.
Optional features of the new series sedan include pre-collision system, clearance sonar and back sonar, intelligent clearance sonar, radar cruise control (brake control) and vehicle dynamics integrated management.
The new Crown series sedans are being produced at carmaker's Motomachi Plant and the firm is aiming to sell 4,000 units of the new series in its home market.
