German carmaker Audi has unveiled the new RS Q3 sport utility vehicle (SUV) prior to its global debut at the upcoming Geneva International Motor Show to be held in Switzerland from 07-17 March 2013.
The new SUV, which is the first RS model for the carmaker's Q line-up, is powered by a 2.5L five-cylinder TFSI engine that generates an output of 310hp at 5,200-6,700 rpm and 420Nm of torque between 1,500 and 5,200 rpm.
The engine is mated to a seven-speed S tronic and a quattro all-wheel drive system that allows the SUV to accelerate from 0-100km/h in 5.5 seconds and achieve a top speed of 250km/h (155 mph).
According to the carmaker, the SUV's D and S modes assist driver in automatic shifting of the dual clutch transmission, or they can also be shifted manually through the shift paddles mounted on the steering wheel or the selector lever.
The new electro-mechanical rack and pinion steering system are aimed at offering improved and precise steering performance.
Standard features of the new SUV include electro-mechanical parking brake, hill hold assist, RS-specific driver information system, park assist plus and xenon plus headlights and LED tail lights.
The new Audi RS Q3 SUV, which is scheduled to go on sale in fall 2013, will feature 19-inch alloy wheels for the German market.
