US-based food processing technology firm Provisur Technologies has acquired select assets of AMFE and BFD Corporation for undisclosed sum.
The acquisitions are aimed at expanding its meat separation portfolio.
AMFE, based in the Netherlands, manufacturers advanced press-type separation equipment that is used mainly in beef and pork applications.
On the other hand, BFD Corporation based in Colorado, US provides sales, application expertise and post-sale support for AMFE equipment across North America.
Provisur CEO Mel Cohen said: “These important acquisitions are consistent with Provisur's long range strategic plan and will help fuel our company's continued global growth.”
AMFE press separation system branded as Bone Cannon is used by meat processors to recover meat remaining on beef and pork bones after secondary processing.
Provisur intends to merge the operations of AMFE and BFD into its existing separation business unit headed by vice president, Olivier Kerdiles.
Kerdiles said: "These acquisitions expand Provisur's lineup of separation equipment which includes Beehive and AM2C rotary separators.”
“The Bone Cannon is an important addition to our separation portfolio as it extends our capabilities beyond poultry and fish to beef and pork applications.”
Following the acquisitions, BFD founder and former owner John Shook will continue to be involved with the company in the North American markets and additionally will help in the global distribution expansion of Bone Cannon.

Its food processing equipment, including integrated systems, grinding, mixing, separating, forming, coating, cooking, freezing, slicing and autoloading equipment for processing beef, poultry, pork, fish, and other food products.
