Consumer goods conglomerate Procter&Gamble(P&G)has signed an agreement with HP to move to a cloud infrastructure.
HP will be accountable for of P&G's manufacturing,procure-to-pay,order-to-cash,physical distribution and financial systems.
P&G will consolidate its core technology infrastructure from a private model into a hybrid cloud environment. It will use HP's 3PAR storage, networking,VMware virtualisation software and HP TippingPoint for a converged infrastructure.
The contract comes as P&G's 2bn pound 10-year mega outsourcing deal with HP is due to end next year.
Filippo Passerini, chief information officer at Procter&Gamble, said the"always-on"capability would be a critical business driver.
The deal comes at an interesting time for HP,which is refocusing its core business as a hardware enterprise, after former CEO Leo Apotheker wanted to turn HP into a purely software and services business.
