Bertolli, a brand of ConAgra Foods (CAG), has launched its new Italian-style tortas in grocers’ freezers.
The single-serve tortas, prized for $2.99 each, feature rich cheeses, meats, and slow-cooked sauces surrounded by a golden flaky, made-from-scratch crust.
These tortas are made from creamy ricotta, parmesan, and mozzarella cheeses and a rich, basil-seasoned marinara sauce, slow cooked from scratch using tomatoes from California.
Retailed nationwide, Bertolli Italian-Style tortas are ideal for a hearty meal or, when combined with a salad, part of a great meal to share, Bertolli said.
ConAgra Foods vice president & general manager Jenn Freeman said: "Consumers want restaurant-quality food at home without a lot of prep time, and this includes pizzas, calzones, and other popular Italian dishes.
"Our Italian-Style Tortas give them just what they want - hot, melting cheeses paired with flavorful sauces wrapped in a flaky, made-from-scratch crust. In addition, ConAgra Foods is known for its breadth and depth of frozen items including pot pies and other hearty meals, and the unique torta adds to our product variety and helps consumers expand their options for at-home dining."
The new Italian-style tortas join 21 new items launched last year, including Meals for One, Rustico Bakes for One and for Two, and Skillet Meals, as well as single-serve desserts imported from Italy.
