Online Sales at Officeworks Increased by 33.8 Per Cent in The Third Quarter

Online sales at Officeworks increased by 33.8 per cent in the third quarter, making it the company's “largest trading store”.

During a strategy update with analysts last week, Officeworks managing director Mark Ward said year-to-date online sales were up by 23.6 per cent with online visitors numbering 20 million a year.

Officeworks puts the total value of the market it services at $30 billion, with core office products accounting for $12 billion.

Online growth helped the Wesfarmers division to report a third quarter sales increase of 2.5 per cent with store sales during the same quarter up by 1.1 per cent. YTD sales were up by just 0.5 per cent.

Officeworks currently has 139 stores and just under half of these are now trading under its new, refreshed store format. The company also has four fulfilment centres, two call centres, one print hub and an expanding B2B sales force.

On the B2B side, Officeworks has been investing in initiatives such as an outbound call centre and driving business in vertical markets such as the education sector.

The company said expected growth areas included catering and cleaning, tablets and smart phones, furniture and print solutions.
