GizmoSphere Has Launched The Gizmo Board for Developing X86-Based Embedded Systems

Powered by the AMD Embedded G-Series Accelerated Processing Unit (APU)

GizmoSphere has launched the Gizmo board for developing x86-based embedded systems for embedded systems inventors and hobbyists.

The board is powered by the AMD Embedded G-Series Accelerated Processing Unit (APU) and claimed to run different operating systems including Android, Linux, RTOSes and Windows.

AMD Embedded Products director Kamal Khouri said that the new board will serve the embedded development community and is useful for those wanting to incorporate the capabilities possible by harnessing a heterogeneous architecture.

"Developers ready to take advantage of a high-performance, full I/O-featured x86 development board will find tremendous value in Gizmo," Khouri added.

The board features the G-T40E dual-core processor running at 1.0GHz, combined on a single die with AMD Radeon-HD 6250 graphics and offers a performance capacity of 52gigaFLOPS at about 10W.

The board has high- and low-speed edge connectors, offers multimedia content delivery for embedded designs including x86 set-top box (xSTB), IP-TV, thin client, information kiosk, point-of-sale, casino gaming, media servers and industrial control systems.
