Turkey producer Bernard Matthews and ITV Studios Global Entertainment (ITVS GE) have struck a deal to create the latter’s first licensed frozen turkey products in the UK under the Thunderbirds Are Go brand.

Set to be launched at Asda this month, the first ever fast moving consumer goods from the Thunderbirds Are Go brand will be made available with other retailers as well from a later date, reported MeatTrades Journal.

The new offering can be found in the frozen children’s line of breaded turkey products.

They will feature the well-known vehicles in Thunderbirds Are Go shaped into turkey products to target children by taking advantage of the TV series’ popularity.

Thunderbirds Are Go is an action series for children, produced jointly by ITV Studios and Pukeko Pictures.

Bernard Matthews assistant brand manager Katherine Hall was quoted by the publication as saying: “The iconic and recognisable vehicles in ‘Thunderbirds Are Go’ are ideal shapes to create into delicious turkey products, and to make mealtimes more fun.

“We believe the huge popularity of Thunderbirds Are Go married with our decades of expertise in producing tasty shaped products, is the perfect combination for success.”

Last month, the Norfolk-based turkey producer Bernard Matthews in a pre pack administration deal was taken over by food industry tycoon Ranjit Boparan, owner of 2 Sisters Food Group, for an undisclosed sum. An iconic name in the turkey industry, Bernard Matthews has been struggling to make profits in recent times.

Recently, Bernard Matthews had launched its new Green Thai Chicken Breast Pieces range in Sainsbury’s.
