The Type of Plastic Found in The Mcnugget on Jan. 3 by a Customer in Misawa

The operator of McDonald's in Japan and Cargill Inc has not identified any connection between a Cargill-owned plant in Thailand and a strip of plastic traced in a chicken nugget this month that triggered uproar over product safety at the fast-food chain.

According to the investigation, the type of plastic found in the McNugget on Jan. 3 by a customer in Misawa, northern Japan, was not used at the plant in Saraburi, Thailand, where the food was manufactured, reports Reuters.

President of Cargill Meats Thailand, Chuck Warta said in the statement: "We are very confident that the plastic film in the nugget occurred outside of our production plant."

McDonald's Japan claims that the chances of the plastic entering the nugget during food preparation at Misawa store were slim as the store did not use such type of material. Hence it is unable to determine the source of the plastic.

McDonald's Japan is struggling with sliding sales and the recent incident doesn't seem to help matters further.
