German carmaker Audi has unveiled the new A3 ultra sedan, which is claimed to be the most fuel-efficient production model from the company.
Being offered as a three-door compact or a five-door Sportback, the ultra model is powered by a 1.6L TDI engine that generates an output of 110hp and consumes about 3.2L of diesel per 100km.
The latest A3 variant sprints from 0-100km/h in 10.5 seconds, while reaching a top speed of 200km/h.
According to the German carmaker, the new version weighs about 1,205kg and its aerodynamics have been enhanced through the deployment of S line side sills, and lowering the body by 15mm.
The 205/55 R16 tires featuring optimised rolling resistance in addition to a longer final drive ratio will contribute to the efficiency of the 1.6 TDI ultra.
Sales of the new A3's three-door compact or a five-door Sportback are expected to commence during September 2013 in Germany.
Audi is also planning to introduce the ultra versions in other model lines which will be powered by TDI and TFSI engines.
