Manufacturer of lithium-based battery cells China BAK has secured an order from FAW-Volkswagen Automotive to supply a sample of its lithium-ion batteries.
The company will delivery three of its lithium-ion battery units to FAW-Volkswagen by September 2012.
FAW-Volkswagen, a passenger sedan joint-venture of FAW Group and Volkswagen, will employ the battery units to power its electric cars and test their performance and reliability.
China BAK chief executive officer Xiangqian Li sought to highlight the company's technological strength and market visibility in the light of its cooperation with FAW-Volkswagen.
"FAW-Volkswagen is a leading passenger car manufacturer in China and we look forward to delivering our lithium-ion battery units to power its new electric car," said Li.
