Packaging supplier Ball has provided 8.4oz cans to US-based 21st Amendment Brewery for the launch of its Lower De Boom barleywine style ale.
21st Amendment Brewery earlier served its barleywines in small bottles due to their higher alcohol content.
Ball metal beverage packaging division Americas senior vice president, sales Robert Miles said different can size and graphics are two ways that brewers can elevate their brands in the marketplace.
"And because cans are impenetrable to oxygen and light, the result is better tasting beer, which is crucial to every successful brewer," Miles said.
Lower De Boom will be available in stores by April 2013 in 17 states that are part of the brewer's distribution territories.
