Tradin Organic Agriculture is introducing certified organic Coconut Syrup.
The coconut sugar is sourced from Indonesia where it is collected from the sugary sap of coconut palms, and further processed for coconut syrup in a high-tech facility in the Netherlands to obtain a stable high quality product. The caramel flavoured syrup is a natural 1:1 replacement for cane sugar, with a milder sweetness and a lower Glycemic Index than table sugar. Coconut syrup is available in light and dark colour.
The Coconut Syrup can be used as a sweetener and sugar alternative. It can be used in sauces and salads, bakery products, jams, marmalades and beverages.
Processed in BRC (GFSI) certified facility, it contains 80% less fructose than agave syrup and is certified organic, Kosher & Non-GMO.
Ingredient with a storyTradin Organic works with over 3,000 farmers who collect the nectar of the coconut flowers and process it into organic coconut sugar. Each farmer has an average of 25 trees that they use for collection and coconut production. The farmers scale the trees, selectively wrap bundles of coconut palm flowers and collect the nectar into the bamboo collectors. They are careful to only collect from flower bundles on specific trees in order to let other trees continue their growth into mature coconuts. The nectar is collected twice a day, in the morning and afternoon.
Coconut sugar is quite literally crafted by hand by the smallholder farmers and their families. The sugar serves as the main source of income for many farmers. The selection process that they use is crucial for the longevity of the tree, production of food and coconuts for the farmers, and to retain the natural growth and a minimal impact on surrounding environment. The farmers take only what is needed from the trees so that they can continue to produce organic products for years to come while minimizing their environmental impact.
