Ilva Lost The Opportunity to Participate in The Construction of an Oil Pipeline in US

Italian steel producer Ilva has lost the opportunity to participate in the construction of an oil pipeline in Oklahoma, US. The customer has canceled his order due to not having received part of the order on schedule.

Ilva was to deliver 25,000 mt of steel pipes for a total value of $25 million in three shipments: the first and the second by November 2012, and the third by January 2013. The first shipment consisted of 9,500 mt of pipes which were among the steel and semi-finished products seized from the plant at the port of Taranto.

The cancellation of the order is thus one of the consequences of the seizure ordered by magistrates in Taranto on November 26. In previous weeks, Ilva had predicted that this seizure would have a strong impact on its operations, at a time when orders are already scarce.
