BBAC board chairman Xu Heyi said, "The construction and operation of the new Mercedes-Benz engine plant is a breakthrough for BBAC in the field of core automobile technologies."

Having an annual production capacity of 300,000 units, the plant assembles three types of Mercedes-Benz engines including M270, M274 and M276.

The engines will be used to power the vehicles manufactured by BBAC and Fujian Daimler, which is a Daimler JV that produces Mercedes-Benz vans including the Viano, Vito and Sprinter.
