VisLab of the University of Parma has entered into a technical-scientific collaboration agreement with Italian auto components maker Magneti Marelli to study the intelligent vehicles and autonomous driving concept.
As part of the deal, VisLab researchers will join with Magneti Marelli engineers to form a 20 member research team in Parma.
The team will develop and apply intelligent vehicles technologies with autonomous driving, within the scope of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).
They will also develop demo vehicles with autonomous driving for situations including highway, urban and sub-urban areas. Every individual situation has specific characteristics and needs specific sensor architecture.
VisLab president and CEO Alberto Broggi said: "This agreement opens up interesting opportunities in order to start, thanks to Magneti Marelli's experience, the conversion of VisLab's know-how into product solutions available for in-vehicle applications."
