Honda Cars India (HCIL) is planning to expand its second automobile production plant in Tapukara Industrial Area, Rajasthan.
The company is planning to invest Rs3.8bn ($60.4m) to expand the capacity of the plant, which includes extension of assembly line.
The annual production capacity of the plant will be 180,000 units per year after the expansion, which is more than 60,000 units it presently produces.
The company said that it is planning to increase the number of associates by approximately 600.
Honda claims that its Tapukara facility conducts several functions including operations for forging, casting, resin molding, stamping, powertrain components production, welding, painting engine assembly, and frame assembly as well as an engine testing facility.
According to HCIL, the plant features latest equipment to facilitate efficient operation.
