German carmaker BMW is set to introduce a diesel-powered 7 series sedan, BMW 740Ld xDrive Sedan in the US at the Chicago Auto Show in February 2014.
The new model will join BMW's diesel US lineup, which includes 328d and 328d xDrive Sedans; 328d xDrive Sports Wagon; 535d and 535d xDrive Sedans; and X5 xDrive35d sports activity vehicle.
Powered by 3.0L TwinPower Turbo diesel engine, BMW 740Ld xDrive Sedan will feature a long-wheelbase 7 Series body along with xDrive, BMW's all-wheel drive system. It will be available for sale in showrooms in Spring 2014 nationwide.
The 3.0L inline-6 diesel engine powered with TwinPower Turbo technology will offer the vehicle 255 HP at 4,000 rpm and 413lbft of torque between 1,500 and 3,000 rpm. It is combined to an 8-speed automatic transmission.
Other features of the new sedan including driving dynamics control with Eco Pro mode and Auto Start/Stop will reduce fuel consumption in real-world driving situations.
