The Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Winona has announced its decision to stop producing returnable glass bottles.
Coca-Cola of Winona general manager and vice president LeRoy Telstad said the existing and anticipated manufacturing standards go beyond the design of the bottler's vintage beverage line and making the upgrades that are needed was not a good business decision, winonadailynews.com reported.
"It was a very small part of our business, but it was rather unique," Telstad said.
The loss of the returnable bottles is expected to have a little impact on local businesses, according to the company.
Coca-Cola's production aspect will end and the company would continue to distribute and stock its other products.
