German carmaker BMW has introduced the 2014 4 Series coupe, ahead of its global debut at the upcoming Frankfurt motor show to be held in September 2013.
The new two-door coupe is claimed to be larger in width and wheelbase compared to the departing 3 Series Coupe, while offering a sportier drive and lower emissions than the outgoing model.
BMW will offer the new model with one six-cylinder in-line gasoline engine in the 435i coupe and two four-cylinder engine options including a petrol unit for the 428i coupe and a diesel powertrain for the 420d coupe.
Featuring the carmaker's TwinPower Turbo technology, all the engines are mated to a standard six-speed manual gearbox that assists in transferring power to rear wheels, while generating an output power ranging between 184hp to 306hp.
Additionally, users can also select an optional eight-speed Sports automatic gearbox for all models, which would allow the driver to change gear manually as well via shift paddles on the steering wheel.
BMW is also offering the two petrol-engine model variants with an optional xDrive intelligent all-wheel-drive system.
The engine variants are aimed at improving acceleration and elasticity, while the car's intelligent lightweight construction concept willa also enhance driving dynamics and reduce fuel consumption.
Features of the new model include auto start stop function, brake energy regeneration, optimum shift indicator and on-demand operation of ancillary units, in addition to eco pro mode and proactive driving assistant.
Security technologies incorporated in the new coupe include driving assistant plus, LED high beam assistant, active protection with attentiveness assistant and active cruise control with stop & go function as well as the new navigation system professional and head-up display.
The new coupe is expected to go on sale in October 2013.
