Irish dairy products firm Ornua has announced to invest €10m to expand its Neukirchen-Vluyn, production facility in Germany.
The investment is aimed at meeting the growing demand for its Kerrygold products in Germany.
The expansion takes the total investment in Neukirchen-Vluyn to €50m.
As part of the expansion, Ornua will will expand production and storage facilities.
The company will also use the investment to develop enhanced office space.
Ornua CEO Kevin Lane said: “This year, Kerrygold in Germany will again deliver double-digit growth. Ongoing investment in the brand and our facilities has been critical to the Kerrygold success story.
“This most recent investment enables us to further expand our business in Germany and throughout this region.
“We are a premium brand and our customers expect products of consistent high quality. Ensuring that we meet those expectations, every time, is key to growing our business.”
The expansion of the Neukirchen-Vluyn site, which employs 160 people, is expected to create additional jobs.
Ornua expects to finish the construction of expansion work at the facility in September 217.
The firm said that the expansion of the Neukirchen-Vluyn facility is the latest investment in opening new routes to market for Irish dairy products.
Over the past two years, Ornua has expanded its manufacturing capacity in China, Germany, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, the US and the UK.
Recently, Ornua launched Kerrygold yogurts in the German market. The range consists of a variety of fruit yogurts.
Its Kerrygold products are currently available in 23,000 German food stores.
In September, Ornua has opened a €38m new butter production and packing facility for its Kerrygold brand in Mitchelstown located in Cork County, Ireland.
