Henkel Adhesive Technologies has introduced two interior adhesive technologies for passenger vehicles, during the Ward's Auto Interiors Conference, at Cobo Center.
AQUENCE PL 5101 is a one-component, waterborne laminating adhesive, that simplifies production by eliminating the need to mix components, while curing on- command through heat activation.
TECHNOMELT AS 8383, a non-reactive APAO hot melt, offers multi-functional application capabilities, with effectiveness on various substrates, including acrylonitrile butadiene styrene and polypropylene.
Henkel Adhesive Technologies in North America Transport and Metal business development manager Barb Wehrle said: "The adhesive technologies that support development of today's world-class interiors must overcome significant challenges faced by the engineering community.
"Efficient open times, on-command bonding, thinner bead volume and cross-functional application capabilities, are key to success."
AQUENCE PL 5101 can be sprayed, roll coated or brushed for use as a laminate in association with instrument panels, side door panels and consoles.
TECHNOMELT AS 8383 maintains its effectiveness at temperatures up to 100 degrees Celsius with a hanging weight of up to 500 grams and is used for multiple vehicle applications, including headliner attachments, wiring, carpet and acoustic pads and foams.
