Research in Motion's said today that service had been restored to users in Europe, the Middle East and Africa who had experienced service problems.
Around 7:44 a.m. Eastern, RIM said service had been restored. No further information was available.
Earlier, RIM apologized for the service disruption.
The problem left thousands of BlackBerry users without access to email or BlackBerry Messenger, according to the Inquirer in the UK.
The outage occurred almost a year after Blackberry outages were felt on several continents. It also occurred on the same day that iPhone 5 goes on sale.
