German automobile manufacturer MAN Truck & Bus has secured an order to deliver 140 units of its semitrailer tractors to the South Africa based logistics service provider Reinhard Transport Group (RTG).
The order includes MAN TGS.27.440 semitrailer tractors that will be added to RTG's Chrome Carriers fleet, which is part of its existing 485 vehicles.
MAN TGS 27.440 tractors are powered by the company's D20 engine mated to the automated TipMatic gear change technology that generates an output of 440hp.
According to the company, the new vehicles offer 10% less fuel consumption compared to its predecessor.
The deal follows an extensive testing of vehicles from a number of manufacturers that included four units of the MAN TGS semitrailer tractors by the logistics firm.
RTGs Chrome Carriers will use the new vehicles to transport chrome ore from mining areas in the South African uplands to the harbors in Richards Bay and Maputo.
