HARMAN Becomes The Number-One Supplier of Automotive Audio and Video Systems Worldwide

HARMAN overtook Panasonic in 2012 to become the number-one supplier of automotive audio and video systems worldwide. HARMAN revenue growth was up 12.5 percent in 2012 when compared to 2011.

The Strategy Analytics Automotive Multimedia and Communications Service (AMCS) report, "Automotive Infotainment Systems Q2 2013: Despite Slowing Economic Growth, Infotainment Revenues Continue to Rise," provides a forecast outlook for OEM and aftermarket audio and video hardware and applications from 2010 through 2020 and ranks the top 15 global audio and video suppliers by 2012 Revenue.

Panasonic falls to the number-two ranking though remains a key global supplier, ahead of number-three ranked Pioneer.  The top five suppliers account for nearly 40 percent of the total market for automotive audio and video equipment in 2012. 

"HARMAN's wins with BMW, Chrysler, Geely, Hyundai, Mercedes Benz, Toyota, the Volkswagen Group and other major global automotive original equipment manufacturers. This has moved HARMAN to the top of the rankings for 2012 automotive infotainment revenue," stated Richard Robinson, Director, Automotive Multimedia and Communications Service at Strategy Analytics. "Continued strength in the mature European and North American markets as well as solid growth in the emerging Chinese and Indian markets positions HARMAN as a well-rounded, global infotainment supplier."
