Automobile major Daimler has put in place lowerable ‘readyspace’ reversible cushions to make room for pet dogs for offering them a comfortable ride.
With this, dogs can board the vehicle conveniently and do away with excessive physical effort.
The level surface has also been lowered by 12cm to make way for a dog basket or a rug, while the vent windows ensure fresh air during the journey.
As the cushions on the rear bench could be swivelled by 180 degrees, cleanliness could be maintained. The rear doors are also capable of being opened by almost 90 degree for even easier access.
Vet Heike Lieberknecht from Birkenau near Mannheim in South Hesse said: "For small or older dogs in particular climbing into a car can often be very arduous.
"Lots of dogs particularly like sitting right behind their owner. The lower position means that all passengers are well protected, also in the event of hard braking or even an accident. But please still make sure that your dog always wears a seat belt".
The four-door car also shows a loading capacity with rear seat backrests being folded down to produce a level load surface of at least 1285 x 996 mm with a cargo volume of up to 975 liters.
