German automobile manufacturer Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the new E 200 Natural Gas Drive sedan that can be operated on both gasoline and natural gas.
The new sedan is powered by a four-cylinder gasoline engine with spray-guided direct injection that generates an overall output of 156hp and 270Nm of torque at 1250rpm.
Equipped with three cylinders to store the natural gas including one at the rear backrest while two below the floor of the trunk, the new model is also claimed to sprint from 0-60mph in 10.4 seconds while achieving a top speed of 136mph.
According to the carmaker, the ECO start/stop system incorporated in the sedan would improve efficiency of the drive system by reducing natural gas consumption by 1.2kg per 100km than the earlier version.
Together with the E 200 Natural Gas Drive, Mercedes-Benz has also unveiled the E 220 BlueTEC BlueEFFICIENCY model.
Mercedes-Benz is planning to start the sales of new E 200 Natural Gas Drive version in December 2013.
