US retailer Meijer has appointed J.K. Symancyk as president of the company, one year after he assumed the role of chief operating officer.
Meijer also announced yesterday (15 January) it has moved current president Mark Murray to the new role of co-CEO, to work alongside current CEO Hank Meijer. Murray will serve as a partner in the development of future business strategy, as well as be vice-chairman, the firm said.
President Symancyk will take up his new role on 3 February. He will oversee all day-to-day business of the company and will report to the co-CEOs.
Symancyk joined Meijer in 2006 as vice president of perishables. He then became executive VP of merchandising and marketing in 2007 and accepted the role of chief operating officer in 2012.
