Bunge's North American Operating Unit Has Acquired The Assets of Heartland Harvest

Agribusiness and food company Bunge’s North American operating unit has acquired the assets of Heartland Harvest, the manufacturer of die cut pellets used to make extruded foods.

The financial details of the transaction have not been disclosed.

Bunge Milling general manager Wade Ellis said: "Consumer demand for innovative and healthier foods is growing and HHI ingredients can be used to make better-for-you snacks.

"This facility also has the flexibility to use starches such as ancient grains and sweet potatoes as well as corn, rice and potatoes, expanding the product portfolio we can offer our customers."

Headquartered in Kankakee, Illinois, Heartland Harvest currently offers die cut pellets made of a variety of starches.

It operates four high capacity production lines for die cut and sheeted pellets. The die cut pellets will be later expanded through popping, baking or frying to create extruded food products.

In February 2014, Bunge North America purchased the assets of US-based Corn Flour Producers.
