Altera has signed a global distribution deal with Mouser Electronics.
This is a signficant deal for Mouser because it covers Altera's intellectual property cores as well as FPGAs, CPLDs and development tools.
Mouser is building its offering of software and development tools as it targets the design market in Europe.
"We are still growing the design market in Europe, we have doubled the number of customers in the last 12 months," Graham Maggs, director of marketing, EMEA at Mouser Electronics told Electronics Weekly.
“Programmable logic is rapidly expanding into a wide variety of applications, and Altera is at the forefront of designing and developing the leading-edge programmable solutions that are at the heart of many of today’s embedded systems," said Russell Rasor, v-p of advanced technology for Mouser.
The distributor believes it can widen the use of programmable logic across a number of end markets, including communications, broadcast, automotive, industrial, compute and storage, test and measurement, military and medical.
“This global agreement will allow us to further expand our reach globally to gain new customers," said George Papa, Vice President of Worldwide Channel Sales for Altera.
