Grammer Will Rig up a New Production Plant in NAFTA Automotive Market

Germany-based injection molder Grammer is planning to set up a new production plant in the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) automotive market.

The company expects the automotive business in the NAFTA region to be favorable with 20% of the total sales due to the preference of German automotive brands including Audi.

Grammer spokesperson Ralf Hoppe was quoted by European Plastics News as saying that the company has not yet decided where the plant will be located as it is evaluating different options.

"The plant will either be in the US or Mexico, where we already have two plants," Hoppe said.

The group owns plants in Mexico and has a sales office in Michigan, US.

In November 2012, the company reported 6% increase in sales to EUR859m in the first three quarters of 2012 from EUR810m in the corresponding period of 2011, while the revenue grew from EUR273m in 2011 to EUR285m in 2012.
