Flowers Foods, a US-based producer and marketer of packaged bakery foods, has appointed Allen L Shiver as chief executive officer and president, effective 22 May 2013.
Shiver has worked for over 33 years with Flowers Foods and currently serves as the president. During his career with Flowers, Shiver has worked in sales, marketing, and operations and has a good expertise in all these fields, the company said.
Shiver is an American Bakers Association (ABA) board member, and also served as ABA's chairman of the board. He was co-chair of the Grain Foods Foundation Board of Trustees, and currently serves on the President's Advisory Council and Industry Affairs Council of the Grocery Manufacturers Association.
Flowers Foods current chairman of the board and chief executive office George E. Deese said that the move is expected to bring opportunities for Flowers Foods, and the board is confident in Shiver's continued leadership as their team integrates recent acquisitions and focuses on growing sales and earnings.
Meanwhile, George E Deese, the current chairman of the board and chief executive officer, has been elected executive chairman of the board effective the same date.
