Molex Launches ML-XT Sealed Connection System for Commercial Vehicles Operating

US-based electronic interconnectors firm Molex Incorporated has launched ML-XT Sealed Connection System capable of doing away with electrical glitches for commercial vehicles operating in harsh environment.

Promising cost savings on the assembly front as against original equipment manufacturers and harness makers, the ML-XT system flaunts a one-piece plug housing and seal design, permanently bonded through two-shot LSR (liquid silicone rubber) molding technology. It has been rated IP68 and J2030 power-wash capable.

The ML-XT rear seals have been derived from high consistency rubber (HCR) to offer a tear resistance and protection to a greater extent. A protective rear cover also makes room for flexible cable exits and cable movement.

As a result, the system, offered in 2-, 4-, 6- and 18-circuit options, guards the seal from rolling during un-mating and mating to ensure a proper seal positioning, negating the risk of a lost or forgotten seal earlier during installation and maintenance stages.

Molex global product manager Denis O'Sullivan said: "Most standard systems are supplied without rear seal covers for the housing, leaving the seal exposed and unprotected.

"The ML-XT system includes housings that are pre-assembled with the rear seal securely locked-in place and protected by a latched rear cover. In addition, the need for welding is removed. This allows Molex to deliver a cost-competitive drop-in replacement for the defacto commercial vehicle standard sealed connectors used in multiple harsh duty applications."

Besides, Wedgelocks or TPAs (Terminal Position Assurance) are capable of locking the terminals in position to execute a reliable electrical contact. The proven Molex XRC terminals have current ratings up to 13.0A.
