Honda Motor has launched its new, compact Honda Shuttle, which is now available for sale across Japan.
The new wagon is available in gasoline-powered and hybrid versions equipped with a 1.5-liter direct-injection DOHC i-VTEC engine and Sport Hybrid Intelligent Dual Clutch Drive (i-DCD), respectively.
The Honda Sport Hybrid i-DCD combines a 1.5l Atkinson cycle DOHC i-VTEC engine, 7-speed DCT system with a built-in high-output motor and the intelligent power unit that unifies a lithium-ion battery and power drive unit.
Designed exclusively for this model, the steering and suspension system claims to offer sporty and stable driving.
Honda also said this is the first time that any station wagon in the 5-number size available in the market has a 4WD option.
Honda Shuttle Hybrid X and Hybrid Z are equipped with front and rear amplitude reactive dampers which help realize both excellent occupant comfort and driving stability, the company claims.
The new car can accommodate five people, while offering luggage space capacity of 570 liters, which can be further increased to 1,141 liters when rear seats are folded down.
A notable feature of the interior is an innovative crystal black panel that seems to engulf the driver. Located in the middle of the dashboard, it features a large-sized soft-touch pad.
It claims to offer fuel economy of 34.0km/liter.
