Western Mixers Produce & Nut Is Recalling Aro and Treasured Harvest Pistachios

US-based Western Mixers Produce & Nut is recalling ARO and Treasured Harvest Pistachios as they may be contaminated with Salmonella.

The products associated with the recall include, 6oz, 12oz and 28oz Treasured Harvest Roasted & Salted Pistachios packaged in Clear Plastic Cup, Clear Bag and Clear Plastic Tray respectively.

These recalled products bear Lot numbers 123050, 123140, 123320, 123450, 123360, 130150, 130240, 130350, #130290, 123100, 122960 and 123040.

The recalled products have been distributed across California, Nevada, Ohio and Utah, through Retail stores, mail order and various distributors during 17 October 2012 to 29 April 2013.

Western Mixers and the FDA have not found Salmonella in any of their finished products distributed in commerce. However, the company has ceased the production and distribution of the product as FDA, ARO and Western Mixers continue with their investigations.

Consumers who have purchased the recalled products are advised to return dispose the product or return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.

Salmonella is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in people with weakened immune systems and can result in fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain.

In some cases, infection with Salmonella can cause the organism getting into the bloodstream and result in severe illnesses such as arterial infections, endocarditis and arthritis.
