Daimler Subsidiary Mercedes-Benz Research and Mbrdi Has Opened Its New Site in Bangalore

Daimler subsidiary Mercedes-Benz Research and Development India (MBRDI) has opened its new site in Bangalore.

Mercedes-Benz Opens New Research and Development Site in India

The new site is a part of company's Mercedes-Benz 2020 growth strategy and expects to increase its knowledge in the Group Research and Mercedes-Benz Cars Development with the site.

Daimler Board of Management member for Group Research and Mercedes-Benz Cars Development Prof. Thomas Weber said that India with its growth potential is one of the core markets within the company's global strategy, Mercedes-Benz 2020.

"With our new research site MBRDI we are further expanding our presence on the market, in order to be closer to the customer also in terms of research and development," Weber said.

Daimler management board member for Human Resources and director of Labor Relations Wilfried Porth said that the close cooperation between global R&D sites can be possible with a strong and integrated IT structure.

"Bangalore is a crucial part of our global IT landscape, both in engineering and non-engineering," Porth added.

"We will use this IT know-how of the Indian "Silicon Valley" for the whole Daimler Group in order to support our profitability and growth."

The company has employed about 1,200 workers in the center.

In 2012, Daimler had invested EUR5.6bn in research and development and plans to make further investments totaling to EUR10.8bn during 2013 to 2014.
