Intelligent CCTV technology specialists Viseum UK have proven themselves to be the real stars when it comes to success in the CCTV business, as the Board reports the technology solutions company has not only survived during the worst economic downturn in a generation, but has flourished, exceeding all expectations with exponential growth forecast.
Viseum's success lies in the proven ability of its intelligent CCTV software and unique surveillance camera designs, which makes the company's offering attractive for those requiring cost effective high security. Money has become tight for everyone, but perversely this has helped Viseum prosper. As budgets have been cut, buyers have become much more demanding in sourcing systems that deliver the twin goals of value and results. Spending money on fewer CCTV Security Cameras that work makes more sense than buying a lot of cameras that don't.
"Rather than being about just more cameras, Viseum success has been built on intelligent software and innovation," said Stuart Thompson, Viseum UK's Managing Director "Our philosophy is based around making surveillance camera installations more effective through built-in intelligence. There is no point in investing in more CCTV schemes if existing ones are not working effectively and this is the singular issue we have looked to address, and has been a key plank in the ongoing success of our business." Others in the industry have found the recession too much. Tough times have shone a harsh light on the industry and only those with evidence of real results have survived. There is a clear link with the decline of the 'box shifters' responsible for the millions of cameras installed and the fraction of these which deliver anything useable. People are no longer looking for simply the cheapest CCTV security cameras.
Police forces currently spend many millions of pounds each year reviewing CCTV. This can take many hours to retrieve and review and often cannot be used because the incident did not occur right in front of the camera. Feedback from those police forces who use Viseum is that just four independently operating Viseum cameras can outperform at least 20 standard CCTV cameras - each of which would need a dedicated operator to watch and control them in order to catch crime.
By being less reliant on traditional CCTV monitoring infrastructures, Viseum is bridging the gap between manned surveillance and unmonitored CCTV schemes. Low running costs coupled with autonomous operation makes CCTV feasible again and for the wider community where Viseum as a company has reaped the rewards. For example, Viseum has also been at the forefront of Community Safety Watch, a community safety service scheme set to generate at least GBP100M over the next five years for the UK economy. It will not only save each local authority up to GBP7M in crime-fighting overheads, but will also save at least GBP1Bn throughout the UK nationally by reducing the costs associated with crime and antisocial disorder.
"Viseum UK proved that this community safety service could be a viable business concept and deliver a tangible impact on crime while being cost effective for communities and councils to invest in," added Stuart. "It is initiatives like these that Viseum has developed that are delivering a win-win situation for all concerned and improving the bottom line for everyone - while more importantly, making a tangible difference to real people's lives in our towns and cities."
